How En4ed got Started
Some time in 2000, Eric and Larry met
for the first time. Eric was a member of the Professional Development Collaborative who knew a lot about salary point classes
(and still does), and Larry had just finished his National Board Certification. In order to complete his 92 service hours,
he asked Eric a lot of questions about how to set up a good salary point class. He learned so much from Eric that the class
he organized was phenomenally successful. Then he thought: "Hey, since this was so much fun, why not do it a few more times
each year?" Soon he was on the phone: "Yo, Eric..."
En4Ed Takes Flight
So these two tall and crazy dudes
put their heads together and started designing salary point classes by and for teachers that were (and are) some of the most
enjoyable and enriching around. Every class we have taught concluded with a good number of teachers telling us it was the
best salary point class they had ever taken. We offer about four or five classes per year, and they are just as enjoyable
and exciting for us as they are for our participants. At the conclusion of each class, there is usually somewhere between
4 and 7 teachers who, after taking 3 or 4 classes with us, have reached the top of the salary point scale (98 units). As
we bid them farewell, we are glad and honored they chose our classes to reach the top, but we're also sad to see them finish.
It's similar to attending a graduation ceremony for students...

Eric Grow and Larry Carstens
Who is Eric Grow? Colleagues think
of Eric as a "Salary Point Credit Guru" because of his extensive knowledge of salary point classes and salary point credit.
Beyond that, little of him is known for certain. Some say he raises llamas and other pack animals in his back yard in northern
Orange County. Others maintain that in his free time he lobbies the International Olympic Committee to include tether ball
as a demonstration sport in the Summer Games.
Who is Larry Carstens? Larry teaches
English at Francis Polytechnic HS (LD2) and College of the Canyons, near Magic Mountain. Legend has it that sometimes he
walks around wearing shirts that went out of style in the 1960s. Currently, he is finishing Dostoyevski's The Brothers Karamazov and searching for his lost shaker of salt.
